Samui Beach Village developed from a small family run hotel called Wanna Resort. Some of the small room units were replaced by single storey villas and they were sold off to private individuals. At that stage these holiday homes formed part of Wanna Resort. It was such a success that in about 2004 the owners of Wanna Resort decided to develop the rest of the resort area. They demolished the remaining hotel rooms and established a new development of fourteen privately owned one and two storey luxury villas. They named the new development "Samui Beach Village". Over time the whole location, including the earlier single storey villas became know as Samui Beach Village.

Location

Samui Beach Village is located on the south east coast of Koh Samui on Nahai Beach, one of the many beaches around the island. Please follow this link for a Map of Koh Samui showing the location of Samui Beach Village.

There are fourteen one and two storey luxury villas, like Baan Keaa above, in Samui Beach Village. There are villas for sale, for rent and others that have permanent residents living in them.

Nahai Beach

Samui Beach Village fronts on to Nahai Beach. Each villa has direct access onto the beach via the common area road and private path down to the beachfront. When you arrive on the beach you begin to appreciate the spectacular views over the silver sand and out over the Sea of Thailand. The bay is protected by a coral reef which unfortunately is just about clinging onto life in some parts. It means that for large parts of the year it is calm shallow water which is ideal for families with young children. It does however get strong onshore and cross shore winds during the winter months (December through to March) which coupled with the higher tides makes it ideal for kite surfing. There is a school that operates in the bay where you could try your hand at learning to kite surf or you could simply sit back and enjoy the spectacle of watching beginners cause chaos amongst the experts doing acrobatics.

Gardens

All of the villas on Samui Beach Village have tropical landscaped gardens with various trees and exotic flowers which attract a beautiful array of colourful butterflies and birds. There is a large variety of tropical plants and flowers as well as coconut and other palm trees on the village. The common area road has verges each side which provide an attractive avenue feel when you walk down to the beach. All of the villa owners take great pride in the uniqueness of their own particular garden. Some villas are also named after the main shrub or flower in their garden. This means that the overall design and finishing of each garden is unique, but all accentuate Thai openness, colour and warmth.

How to get to Samui Beach Village

Koh Samui is accessible by air and both by passenger and car ferries from Suratthani on the mainland. Bangkok Airways provide regular flights to Koh Samui from Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya, Hong Kong, China mainland and Singapore all year around. Other airlines provide direct flights into Suratthani and Koh Samui but some are on a seasonal basis. The more seasoned travellers might prefer to take the train down the mainland from Bangkok to Suratthani and then get the ferry over to Koh Samui.
